GW... lack of animation?
First off i think a option that allows all damage and healing to be seen, instead of just seeing dmg/healing that u cast or that is cast on u.
Improve minion AI, plz, nothing much, just make them hit the targets i attack and have them actually follow me if i run away from monsters. (i hate it wen there view is obstructed and they just stand there trying to hit some random monster and they wont budge and i have to let them die)
ok well...after playing gw for a lonnngg time i always thought there was missing but i could never figure out wat it was... until i realized that gw lacks skill animation compared to other games i have played.
Think about it,
all enchantments look the same
99% of all nec, me, mo spells are invisible
war skills, ele spells look pretty lame
I think anet should add some more animation into the game, u might say nahh its just a waste of time, but for me, if the game has really good animation it give me a adreniline rush and makes u go wow wat a sweet spell and makes the game better overall, like if u could see wat enchantment was on ur ally/foe or wat stance he used 5seconds ago.
Nothing fancy,
they could do simple things like
wars:
wen wars use frenzy, make the lights that come out of there eyes last during the whole duriation of the skill and make the lights bigger brighter.
Battle rage should get that animation w/ the glowing eyes wen u asend (after all it is a elite)
eles:
make lightning orb bigger, and wen lightning attacks hit, there should b sparks that fly from the oppenent's armor, ice shards from ice spells.
wen u cast armor of earth, those peices of rock should stay floating around instead of disapearing.
necro:
Purit explosion should actually LOOK like a explosion instead of a little wave.
life siphon should have a line that connects the target under it w/ the necro, like what it looks like in the spell icon.
monk:
shield of regeneration/ shield of judgement enchament animations could b shields swirling around the character.
infuse health could make the monk and the person being infused really bright (like a white chaos axe)
ranger:
frozen soil could make the ground actually freeze, muddy terrian make the ground muddy ect.
kindle arrows, make the arrows look like they are actually lit w/ fire and give them a bigger explosion, posion arrow/choking gas could b somthin like a bright green arrow w/ a trail of green mist that follows behind from the arrow
me:
disortion could make the me all blurry
energy surge can make the person turn bright purple and make the target give a loud scream as if in major pain.
backfire can make a purple explosion come out of the person's body wenever they cast a spell.
just simple things, variations in spell animation. This would make PvP even more enjoyable since ppl could tell wat enchantments are on who, what skills there using w/o clicking on their name and the Me, Necs would get more respect since the damage is some what noticable.
critism, comments, w/e, welcome

That would definitely be worth the 50+ bucks we're spending buying 1, 2, or 3 accounts (b/c of another issue *not enought char slots*). I know it doesn't have any effect on gameplay, but it makes the game look better. Otherwise, I could just go back to playing Runescape if I was just interested in leveling up to max and getting rich. This game is supposed to be meant to last as long as it can until the next expansion, in which case you toss GW: Chapter 1 aside and chunk another 50 bucks to buy the next chapter, to play the SAME game BUT with 2 more professions, and a few more skills that will have the same animations this game currently has. Adding a unique animation to each skill wouldn't kill anyone, just make A-net work a little harder, heh.

It doesn't have to be about gameplay...it could just be about looking nice.

There's actually time to look at the casting animations?
I've been quite busy staring at team's health bars when playing my monk, and general happenings of the battlefield when on my warrior
Sure, it would make stuff cooler. But I don't really care, used to 'waving hands in the air'-spellcasting from Anarchy Online where every profession casted their "spells" with the exactly same animation, plus there either wasn't time to stare at the animations either.

I like the idea, but think of all the poor people playing GW on Intel graphics or the hand-me-down Geforce MX420.

i use "fear me" when i play a necro/warrior .....not for any reason other than i like it.....sad yes, but ask yourselves this.......if they spent 2 much time on animations & everyone was happy in that respect......what areas of the game would we now be complaining about?
i understand it looks dodgy when people are speaking & they dont move their lips....it makes me think im watchign a dubbed movie from bali
but the rest of the gameplay, the awesome terrains & details, the towns, the items, the shields....OMG the massive list?!?!?!
animations are a small part of the game.......i'd like to see more yes, but at the cost of another aspect of the game?.....no
my $1.25c worth of brain spit

I agree.
Also all effects when you impact enemy should be reduced (not removed) but sometimes you don't see character animations of all the big explosions and stuff.
So, give more animations, reduce the glow for just a bit and vice versa.

okok, im begining to think you guys think i want some awe-inspiring graphics. Nah, although it would be nice, i just would like there to be variations in spell and enchantment animations and make them bigger, nothing like A THOUSAND THUNDERBOLTS FALL FROM THE SKY AND THE SKY BEGINS TO RAIN AND THE WHOLE ARENA IS DARK AND FIRE IS SPEWING FROM THE GROUND. They can make it alot better by just making the animations bigger or last longer and working w/ animations that already exist in the game but arent used for skills (like the flame from the eyes u get from asention, the glowing aura boss monsters get)

Oh yes...
I hope they make the ritualist's summon spirit animation really great. I hope it's like summoning some bigass monster .
-Spheres coming down from the sky.
-Symbols underneath the ritualist
-Flash of lights
Those kinds of things

-Smoke rising from my graphics card. =D
A couple new animations would be nice, as long as it doesn't take too much time to make and won't raise the system requirements up that much.
Frankly, though, animations are a minor detail. It is not such an urgent issue, and I'm quite fine with leaving it unattended to while Anet works on more important things. That's not to say, though, that I wouldn't appreciate it...

The animations are minimal so as to allow for somewhat older machines to run the game. If so many additional effects were added, I certainly couldn't play.

What would be a great comprimise for the older machines(mine) would be to make those animations optional. For myself and many others we play GW on minimal graphics settings to avoid having our game freeze up and find we've been owned by a Wolf...

uh the screen would be flooded with animation...ever played fighters with the spells' HUGE animations every 5 seconds? It gets laggy and hard to play.
